Putting the Brakes on for a Feed

This is the time of year when the Symons Group rev counter is sitting pretty close to the redline.

It’s our busiest period of the year, and making it work takes a huge collective effort right across the business. From the drivers out on the road to logistics, operations, fleet, administration and everyone working behind the scenes, there are plenty of people mucking in to keep things moving.

And when you’re running at that pace, sometimes you need to pull into the pits, refuel and reset.

That was the idea behind getting the food trucks in on Thursday.

In New Plymouth, the team gathered in the warehouse while The Flying Pig served up dinner from the yard. Graham Symons joined the crew as well, and we can personally confirm the food was well worth pulling over for!

Meanwhile, in Te Awamutu, some of our Waikato team got together at the Fonterra Learning Centre and enjoyed an equally impressive feed from Cosana.

Of course, transport doesn’t stop just because dinner is being served. With people spread across the country and drivers out keeping things moving, we were never going to get everyone around the table at once. But that wasn’t really the point.

It was simply a chance for as many of us as possible to stop for a moment, grab some good food, have a yarn and recognise the effort going in across the whole business.

Then it’s back on the road.

A big thanks to Min for organising the evening, The Flying Pig and Cosana for keeping everyone well fed, and most importantly to everyone across Symons Group who is putting their shoulder to the wheel during our busiest time of year.

We might be running near the redline, but it takes the whole team to keep the engine turning.
