Logistics Assistant Manager (Full-Time, New Plymouth-based)

We are seeking a Logistics Assistant Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations, with a focus on transport movements.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day logistics operations
• Manage and schedule transport services
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors
• Be a key support and communication point for our drivers
• Prioritise driver wellbeing and maintain a strong health & safety culture
• Contribute to operational improvements through new systems and technologies

Logistics Co-ordinator (Cadet) (Full-Time, New Plymouth-based)

Are you ready to take the first step into the world of logistics and transport organisation?

Symons Transport is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Logistics Coordinator (Cadet).

This is an entry-level role ideal for someone who is eager to learn the ropes of transport operations and build a career in a dynamic industry. You’ll be supported by a tight-knit, experienced team and gain exposure to all aspects of logistics coordination.

What will you do?
• Assist with day-to-day scheduling of drivers and trucks
• Support the team with job planning, customer communications, and data entry
• Learn how to use logistics software and scheduling tools
• Monitor job progress and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders
• Help coordinate deliveries, track freight movements, and respond to queries
• Contribute to a high-performance and safety-first environment

What do you need?
• A genuine interest in transport, logistics, or supply chain
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and follow instructions
• Clear communicator with a positive, team-focused attitude
• Confident using computers and comfortable with digital tools
• Availability to work rostered shifts, including some after-hours or weekend support if required
• A Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 or above is a bonus but not required)

Truck Driver – Class 5 (Casual) for General Freight, Flat Deck, Tanker, Swing lift

• Are you a class 5 heavy vehicle operator with driving experience?
• Are you motivated, have a positive attitude and are committed to delivering the highest level of service?
• Are you a team player who thrives off doing it right the first time, every time?

If you are nodding your head and answering ‘yes’ to these questions, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
We are on the hunt for experienced and hardworking Class 5 Heavy Vehicle Operators based in Bell Block.
These are casual positions only.
You will ideally need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in any of the following: Flat Deck, Tanker or Swing lift, and be able to build and maintain excellent relationships with our clients.

Interested? This is what you’ll do:
• Work as part of a dedicated team
• Prioritising safety and compliance at all times while completing load plans and daily logs
• Maintain a clean and well-presented fleet of vehicles, daily inspection of vehicles and reporting of any defects or damage
• Drive in an exemplary manner, following NZTA rules and regulations as well as adhering to all Symons Transport policies and procedures
• Liaise with all customers, members of the public and work colleagues politely and professionally at all times
• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe workplace
• Have good time management skills and be able to follow instructions/directions well
• Use of tablets to accurately record hours, mileage, load plans and any other relevant information
• Be a well-presented team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
